The Economic Mobility Fellowship Program is a federal government-university partnership that seeks to broaden the pipeline of research staff working on. Economic mobility refers to the ability of citizens to move up and down the economic ladder. There are several different types of social mobility. We support critical legal protections for domestic workers, who are often overworked and underpaid. Social mobility is an important factor in the creation of a vibrant society, and it is a critical factor in the creation of a healthy economy. We work to tear down barriers to entrepreneurship for women and minorities. The Commission on Gender Equity affirms the right of all women to be paid fairly for their work, to take time off when they are sick or caring for their children, and to be free of discrimination based on gender identity, pregnancy, or caretaker status. And when women are held back by discrimination and other unfair practices, we all lose.Ĭonsequently, the Commission on Gender Equity works to protect the rights of women in the workplace, to foster economic opportunity for women, and to promote equitable practices by private and public employers. Simply put, New York City cannot succeed without the contributions of women. Cisgender and transgender women are vital contributors to New York City’s economy: whether as business owners, City workers, caretakers, or carpenters, women keep the City running.
